Year 12 & 13s have an opportunity to win up to $1000 in this national speech competition from Rotary. What's involved? Read on!

What are the basic rules for students entering the contest?
  • Contestants may be in Year 12 or 13 and attend school within District 9980.
  • Contestants can choose their own topic, but the speech must be based on the application of the Four Way Test, with the principles running clearly throughout the entire speech and not just reserved for concluding statements.
  • The time is to be no less than five minutes and no more than six minutes. A warning bell will be sounded at the end of five minutes and a final bell at the end of six minutes.
  • Three judges and a timekeeper are needed for each contest.
  • The use of microphone, palm cards and visual aids are options open to each contestant.
  • Finalists will compete at the District Conference, which is held 26-28th April (commitment required to be there).
The Four Way Test
  1. Is it the truth?
  2. Is it fair to all concerned?
  3. Will it build good will and better friendships?
  4. Will it be beneficial to all mankind?
